US Beef, the largest Arby’s Restaurant Group franchisee with 330 restaurants across eight Midwestern and Western states, relied on a six-week, paper‑based mentored-apprenticeship program that was highly labor‑intensive. Training managers ran three two‑week phases of observations, practical exercises and manual assessments, creating heavy paperwork, limited scalability and dependence on skilled assessors.
Kineo implemented a customised Totara Learn LMS to digitise the management trainee program—enabling online skills completion, progress tracking, US Beef‑specific compliance, professional skills and leadership courses, and integrated appraisal workflows with clear dashboards. The new system doubled the number of trainees a manager can handle simultaneously, improved visibility for senior leaders and coordinators, reduced district‑level support needs, and earned US Beef and Kineo a Brandon Hall Gold award.
