Totara Learn transforms systems, processes and roles in record time at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest mental health providers, with 4,600 staff delivering more than 230 services to a local population of 1.3 million. The Education & Development team was struggling with fragmented systems (SharePoint, two Moodles, WIRED, OLM and ESR) for bookings, e-learning, reporting and compliance, and needed a single, scalable platform that could be implemented quickly to improve efficiency and workforce engagement.

SLaM selected Totara Learn, implemented by Think Associates, to create "LEAP" — a branded single sign-on learning portal that centralised courses, certifications, appraisals and reporting. Customisations (delegated booking, manager-selection workflows, master templates and dashboards) enabled a three-month go-live and delivered higher learner engagement, streamlined compliance tracking, centralised appraisal data for planning, and significant operational efficiency gains (less data entry and fewer login issues), with positive staff feedback.
