A Totara Case Study
The University of Canberra partnered with ten Australian education agencies to deliver seven e‑learning courses explaining obligations under the Disability Standards for Education and the Disability Discrimination Act to a potential audience of 300,000 school staff. Face‑to‑face training was prohibitively expensive, and the project needed to reach teachers across remote and urban areas via dial‑up and low‑skill computer users while letting each agency maintain its own branding and reporting.
Using Totara Learn delivered by Catalyst on a cloud platform, UC created branded landing pages that let agencies turn courses on or off, customise learner guidance and run their own reports while UC kept the program integrated and monitored impact. Early analysis of 46,000 users showed strong engagement and outcomes—learners averaged 95% understanding after the two‑hour course, with the biggest gains among staff with little prior experience—and the system now supports over 140,000 registered users with 5,000–10,000 sign‑ons per month.
