The Royal Marsden boosts compliance with remote access to mandatory training

The Royal Marsden is Europe’s largest comprehensive cancer centre, treating over 50,000 NHS and private patients a year and delivering care, research and education across three London hospitals and community services. The Trust faced fragmented access to mandatory e-learning because of two separate IT networks and inconsistent ESR performance; its immediate goals were to raise compliance for five mandatory topics (Fire, Information Governance, Infection Control, Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults) by March 2016, enable remote, easy access to learning, and reduce time spent resolving access issues.

The Trust selected Think Associates to deploy a Totara Learn platform called The Learning Hub, migrating mandatory modules, integrating Active Directory for single-sign-on, and delivering a phased rollout with UAT within six weeks and go-live soon after. The Hub delivered remote 24/7 access, stable completion tracking and a custom report for compliance systems, significantly improved mandatory training uptake, reduced helpdesk queries, created efficiency savings by lowering classroom demand, and enabled future integrations with external learning platforms and the Royal Marsden’s educational programmes.
