Smyths Toys, Europe’s largest toy retailer with over 200 stores and 5,000+ employees, needed to upgrade its learning platform from Totara 2.7 to Totara 11 to meet GDPR requirements and consolidate a custom Incident Tracker previously built on Moodle. The challenge was to centralise incident reporting, secure and restrict access by store and role, and streamline onboarding for a large seasonal workforce without relying on time-consuming spreadsheets and manual processes.

Enovation migrated and enhanced the platform—porting the Incident Tracker into Totara, using Totara’s hierarchy and granular permissions, adding a branded responsive theme and improved registration validation, and enabling company-wide reporting and seminar bookings. The result is a single, efficient LMS that onboards over 2,000 seasonal staff annually, supports 3,000 permanent employees (about 6,500 users a year), cuts manual effort, improves compliance visibility, and standardises training across all stores.
