Sidel's Totara Learn Platform Supports Its Dynamic Blended Learning Programme

The Sidel Group, a global provider of packaging equipment and services, migrated its LMS to Totara to support a dynamic blended learning strategy across 5,000+ employees. Their key challenges were to build highly customised dashboards and a catalogue to manage face‑to‑face and e‑learning by job profile, create complex recurring qualification paths for Field Service Engineers across multiple equipment types, and manage competence assessment and development for a Project Managers’ Academy.

Using Totara Learn and MediaTouch customisations, Sidel implemented an audience‑based dashboard and redesigned catalogue, built “programs of programs” that combine e‑learning and hands‑on training for FSE qualifications, and added a Project Manager self‑assessment block that maps gaps to targeted courses. Rolled out gradually in 2017 without LMS downtime, the solution delivered a flexible, evolving blended‑learning platform that improved skills, safety and productivity, eased adoption, and created a scalable system for ongoing competence development.
