Self-service E-learning Transforms Training for Student Loans Company

The Student Loans Company (SLC), a UK government non-profit serving students with 3,000+ staff across multiple sites, needed an innovative, scalable e‑learning platform to drive self‑led, social and just‑in‑time learning. Key requirements included a single secure external LMS, mixed learning formats and ready-made content, self‑service registration and help, easy admin and reporting, and account management and support.

Learning Nexus delivered a tailored LMS implementation with a dedicated project team, prioritising learner experience and practical admin features: self‑registration, automatic password reset, a simple mobile-friendly interface, certificates and blended programmes (e.g., EDI), management development, quick “how to” videos and Welsh-language courses. The Digital Learning Academy launched in May 2016 with hands-on rollout events; within four weeks 40% of employees had logged in and feedback was highly positive, improving access, tracking and manager visibility of learning.
