Royal Melbourne Hospital saves 1,000 hours on learning admin a month with increased automation

Royal Melbourne Hospital, one of Australia’s largest public healthcare providers, needed a new learning platform to improve onboarding, mandatory training, reporting, and staff development across more than 11,000 staff, volunteers, and students. The hospital also had to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions while supporting remote learning and flexible work, and it chose Totara’s learning management solution to replace an older system.

Totara implemented the Totara Talent Experience Platform, including Totara Learn LMS and Androgogic add-ons, with automation, reporting, seminar management, and video-conferencing integration. The new system helped RMH migrate 375 courses and 669,900 training records, retire an external training admin tool, and save about 1,000 manager hours each month; it also boosted monthly users from 6,000 to 9,000 and enabled over 6,000 staff to complete cyber security training in three months.
