A Totara Case Study
RBH, a UK hotel management company operating over 45 hotels, needed a more flexible, scalable way to deliver statutory hospitality training amid seasonal staffing, rapid portfolio growth, and limited availability for classroom sessions. They wanted to replace an underused intranet, convert most face-to-face training to online, reduce administration and back-to-work time, maintain accurate records, and build a culture of self-driven learning.
Working with Learning Pool, RBH launched SMILE (Simply Magical and Inspiring Learning Environment) on a Totara Learn platform with SSO, HR sync, a learning calendar and around 200 tailored courses built with Adapt. Focus groups shaped content and audiences so role-specific mandatory training (eg. The Bar Academy) could be pushed automatically. The platform now serves ~2,000 users, achieved 92% completion of statutory training, converted 85% of classroom courses to online, improved reporting and manager accountability, and has become a valued part of RBH’s brand and operations.
