Plan International Delivers Consistent Learning to 18,000 Employees Around the World

Plan International, a global children’s development charity, needed to deliver consistent learning and operating standards to 18,000 employees spread across 70+ countries and many languages. Their learning was fragmented across two different Moodle sites (hosted by different partners and running different versions), which prevented a unified, reliable L&D experience across locations. Totara partner Synergy Learning was appointed to consolidate and standardize the organisation’s learning platform.

Synergy Learning upgraded one Moodle site to Totara Learn and manually migrated the second, using Totara’s multi-tenancy, reporting and hierarchy features to create a single, branded, responsive learning portal with bespoke self‑service registration. They connected all learning records to a cloud HR platform and trained administrators. The result is one centrally managed LMS that delivers consistent training worldwide, boosts cross‑region peer learning and dialogue, enables robust reporting and monitoring, and gives mobile-friendly access to learners in the field.
