Oil Spill Response Futureproofed Its Training with A Comprehensive Blended Learning Programme

Oil Spill Response is a global leader in oil spill disaster management with operations across eight locations and more than 140 member organisations. Rapid growth created a need to standardise and digitise training to reach dispersed staff and external members cost‑effectively, reduce expensive international classroom delivery, and introduce mandatory e-learning (starting with Anti‑Bribery and Corruption).

They implemented a customised Totara Learn platform with support from Learning Pool, creating separate internal and external portals, blended learning pathways, social forums, and offline e-learning for offshore users. The rollout drove strong engagement—over 300 course completions, a 98% NPS—and delivered more than £400,000 in training savings, while modernising performance management and enabling plans to expand blended delivery globally.
