Case Study: National Express achieves BYOD-enabled remote learner reach and streamlined training with Totara Learn

A Totara Case Study

Preview of the National Express Case Study

National Express’ first LMS supports its BYOD strategy to reach remote learners

National Express, the UK’s largest coach network carrying 20 million passengers a year across roughly 900 locations, needed a way to deliver consistent training to a largely dispersed workforce of coach drivers. Historically reliant on complex face-to-face and paper-based training, the company wanted a blended, easily accessible digital solution that supported a BYOD approach so drivers could complete learning during limited downtime.

They implemented Totara Learn with partner Learning Pool (formerly Mind Click), branding the LMS as “iLearn” and using a rich-media induction plus streamlined homepage links to centralise resources. The platform enabled mobile access, reduced time spent searching for materials, and shifted culture toward self-directed learning; the rollout has been well received and the L&D team is targeting 100% driver adoption for mandatory training while continuing to expand digital learning.
