MindEd open access learning portal personalises guidance on mental health issues

MindEd is an open-access learning portal, led by a consortium of health and education organisations, that provides bite-sized e-learning to help adults who work with children identify, understand and support youth mental health. The challenge was to deliver completely free, mobile-friendly content with no barriers to entry while also offering registered users a personalised, role-based learning pathway and progress tracking.

City & Guilds Kineo built the site on Totara Learn using a user-centred design, dynamic audiences and custom course formats to enable optional registration, personalised Learning Plans, bookmarking and integrated SSO to external content repositories. Launched in March 2014, the site has around 14,000 registered users, ~100,000 visitors and over 1.25 million page views, and continues to be positively received as a vital resource for supporting young people’s mental health.
