Lidl Employees Are Given Control Over Their Own Development With Totara's Learning Management System

Lidl Netherlands — with over 400 stores, 6 regional warehouses and some 18,500 employees — wanted to give people more space and responsibility for their development by centralizing learning on a single digital platform. The challenge was to create personal online curricula that support employees’ careers, deliver both compulsory and elective training, and make registration, reporting and evaluation efficient for HR and managers.

Lidl implemented Totara Learn with partner UP learning and launched a fully digital development process in under three months, populated with workshops, hundreds of e-learning modules and 800 ebooks. The clear, mobile-friendly environment improves learner progress visibility and manager oversight, enables self-directed learning anytime on any device, and meets strict security and privacy requirements (penetration testing and two-factor authentication).
