Leica Geosystems LMS gives employees the confidence to improve sales by several million euros a year

Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon and a long-standing leader in measurement and geospatial technologies, faced the challenge of delivering consistent, high-quality product and sales training to hundreds of dispersed sales and support staff worldwide. Classroom training was costly and reached only a fraction of employees, so the company needed an easy-to-use learning platform with strong reporting, multimedia support, and the ability to model complex organisational hierarchies while still supporting blended classroom delivery — and later, offering training to customers.

In July 2016 Leica implemented Totara Learn with partner HowToMoodle, creating branded, multimedia-rich courses, scalable frameworks for ~450 sub-organisations, and robust manager reporting. The platform boosted sales confidence and product knowledge — learners reported being able to sell 3–5% more (equating to several million EUR annually), with a similar uplift expected for customer care packages — while cutting training time by over 80% and halving reporting effort through automation.
