Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand Engages Learners With Constant Fresh Content

The Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS‑ANZ) is a government‑appointed non‑profit accreditation body that supports 35 staff and 150 contractors. After using an out‑of‑the‑box Totara LMS since 2013, learner engagement fell due to a clumsy user experience, inconsistent course formatting and a lack of informal learning options, so the organisation needed a visual and UX overhaul and an upgrade to the latest Totara Learn.

Kineo redesigned the LMS (starting July 2018), improving the homepage with a site tour and quick links, adding an interactive record‑of‑learning dashboard, audience‑based course visibility, and an “Other Resources” library of webinars, podcasts and a monthly blog. The changes drove positive feedback and stronger engagement: 69% of learners who logged in since the January 2019 launch accessed the informal resources (up to 56% of monthly logins), up to 22% of monthly logins hit the blog, and webinars average six attendees each (up to 35 per month).
