A Totara Case Study
Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is a large teaching hospital serving around 600,000 local residents and up to 1.3 million for tertiary services. The Trust needed a more flexible learning platform than the national LMS to manage mass intakes of Junior Doctors and complex mandatory training workflows, so they developed their own system and chose to build on Totara Learn for added control and customisation.
Working with Chambury Learning Solutions, the Trust uses Totara Learn for SCORM e‑learning, face‑to‑face bookings and HR-synced compliance (ESR), allowing pre-enrolment of new staff and inclusion of agency and student users. With about 7,500 active users, roughly 83,000 e‑learning completions, 28,000 face‑to‑face completions and 5,500 appraisals in the past year, the platform improved induction smoothness, compliance reporting and administrative efficiency while enabling local customisations and strong technical support.
