Holland & Barrett Boost in-store Knowledge Retention by 20% and Save £90,000 a Year

Holland & Barrett International, one of Europe’s largest health and wellness retailers with over 1,600 locations, needed a modern learning management system to replace an outdated bespoke platform and deliver its Qualified to Advise (QTA) training. The organisation wanted clearer reporting at store and individual levels, reduced administrative overhead, lower ongoing costs, and a rapid rollout to improve in-store knowledge retention and link training to sales performance.

After assessing 30 platforms, Holland & Barrett chose Totara Learn implemented by Hubken Group, using quizzes, modular programmes, advanced reporting and web conferencing to deliver and track training. The result was a rise in knowledge retention from 53% to 73% (a 20% increase), early evidence of larger average basket sizes in higher-performing stores, strong engagement from 10,000 colleagues, a six-week launch, and approximately £90,000 in annual savings.
