Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service saves over £224 per firefighter in just one training assessment with Totara Learn

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) provides 24/7 emergency response across Hertfordshire with 29 fire stations and a training centre in Stevenage. Faced with long shifts, unsociable hours and tight budgets, HFRS needed a way to give its ~1,000 firefighters quick, consistent access to mandatory, risk-critical training without pulling crews from duty or incurring high classroom costs.

HFRS adopted Learning Pool’s Totara Learn LMS to deliver 66 online assessments, using multimedia to simulate real incidents and give instant, automated marking and reporting. The platform has supported over 6,000 completions, saved more than £7,100 on the Crew Commander assessment (around £224 per firefighter for that course), improved accessibility and consistency, and reduced training time and administrative costs.
