Empowering people with learning disabilities and autism

Real Life Options, a provider supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, needed more control over its training, reporting, data, and course content than its old externally managed LMS could provide. The system had inflexible dashboards, limited and error-prone reporting, and content that was difficult to reuse elsewhere. Real Life Options partnered with Totara and Cortexa to find a more flexible solution, using Totara LMS as the foundation for a new in-house platform.

Totara and Cortexa implemented “Real Learning,” a Totara platform designed around compliance tracking, community workspaces, and more engaging, branded user experiences. Real Life Options reauthored courses into SCORM format and gained control of content and administration. The results were strong: 1,900 registered users, 95% of employees logged in since launch, 1,040 users logged in during November 2024, and 13,300 courses completed in the first five months.
