East Lancashire Hospitals Provides CQC Level Reporting Within the Nhs Using Totara

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) is a large integrated healthcare organisation serving East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen, employing over 8,000 staff across five hospital sites. ELHT faced an inefficient mandatory training process—relying on day-long workbooks/DVDs, missing completion slips, no real-time compliance data—and needed to adopt the NHS Core Skills Training framework, capture new-starter training needs and provide an online induction while meeting internal and CQC audit requirements.

Working with Chambury Learning Solutions, ELHT implemented Totara Learn to deliver e‑learning, create role-based Audiences, Certifications and Programmes, and provide dashboards, automated reminders and self-service reports. As a result staff can complete most mandatory training online at convenient times, managers and individuals run real-time compliance reports, CQC audit requests are fulfilled in minutes, and engagement and compliance have improved significantly (over 92% of staff logged into Totara, with nearly 8,000 active users in three months), enhancing onboarding and patient safety.
