Disability Matters creates effective learner audiences with Totara Learn

Disability Matters, launched by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, provides free, bite-sized online learning to support people who work with or engage disabled children and young people. The project needed to serve two audiences: anonymous visitors who browse and complete single sessions, and professionals who require accounts to track learning, save progress and receive certificates—while keeping the site welcoming and accessible to both groups.

Using Totara Learn, City & Guilds Kineo built a flexible solution that delivers the same content to guests and registered users but personalises the experience after sign-up by capturing industry and job role to recommend tailored “Learning Packages,” enable tracking, saving and certification. Launched in February 2015, the portal won an RCPCH award, now has around 3,000 registered users, nearly 2,500 session completions and an estimated 13,000 unique visitors in nine months, with 18 partner organisations actively engaged.
