Direct Group (formerly Ryan Direct) needed a more engaging, flexible LMS to replace a basic platform that could no longer be developed. The organisation required specific functionality — easy reporting, performance management, competencies, a customisable UI and robust regulatory and security standards — to deliver broader, more engaging learning across its financial services workforce.
They implemented Totara Learn with Learning Pool, launching a customised, on‑brand platform (including a mascot, Gladis) after a four‑month build and a coordinated launch campaign of roadshows and targeted communications. The result: strong adoption (over 80% of learners), nearly 2,000 voluntary module completions, positive user feedback and stakeholder buy‑in, with plans to extend the system for appraisals and professional accreditations.
