Bringing values to new Boni employees

Boni Supermarkets, a Dutch supermarket chain with 51 stores and about 3,400 employees, was expanding across the Netherlands and needed a standardized onboarding process. Previously, each store trained new hires differently, making it hard to track development and consistently pass on the company’s core values. Boni chose Totara Learn to support onboarding for the whole workforce, with special attention to younger store employees.

Totara implemented a mobile-first onboarding platform integrated with Boni’s HR system so new hires were automatically enrolled in Totara Learn. The program included required e-learning modules, badges, and manager dashboards to track progress and growth interests. The launch had immediate impact: 175 employees logged in within five hours, and 450 had accessed the platform by the following Monday morning.
