A Totara Case Study

Preview of the Drug Free Sport New Zealand Case Study

Award-winning e-learning for New Zealand's remote athletes with a multi-device learning solution

Drug Free Sport New Zealand (DFSNZ), the body that implements the World Anti‑Doping Code in New Zealand, needed to replace a Flash‑based LMS and course that was not mobile‑friendly, not WCAG 2.0 AA compliant, and could not meet reporting or accessibility needs for athletes, coaches and support staff spread across remote regions. The existing system was manual, incompatible with modern devices and browsers, and did not reflect the updated 2015 Code, limiting DFSNZ’s ability to deliver effective, timely anti‑doping education.

Kineo delivered a custom Totara learning platform and HTML5 responsive course featuring personalised profiles, guided learning, a stadium‑map navigation, embedded athlete videos, social integration and robust reporting — all built to WCAG 2.0 AA standards. Since launch, hundreds of athletes have completed the programme, feedback has been very positive, the solution met DFSNZ’s performance criteria and provided useful flexibility for future content, and the work earned LearnX Gold and Silver awards.
