Austin Health's Highly Successful LMS Delivers Learning to 9,000 Employees

Austin Health is a major academic public health service in north‑east Melbourne, affiliated with 16 universities and 4 TAFEs, delivering acute, subacute, outpatient and mental health services. Despite its strong teaching tradition, Austin lacked a central learning management system, which limited options for online education, made tracking and reporting difficult, and slowed administrative efficiency across the organisation.

Austin selected platinum Totara partner Androgogic to implement Totara Learn and Totara Social as the ATLAS platform, integrating with HR (Chris21), Active Directory, BigBlueButton and a CMS, and redesigning mandatory courses while supporting conversion of face‑to‑face programs to blended formats. Five months after launch ATLAS serves 9,000 employees with ~220 courses and 24/7 access, achieving a 95% completion rate for intern mandatory training (saving two hours of orientation time), averaging fewer than one support request per day, and earning executive praise for its impact on learning and administration.
