Arriva Rail North Launches a Single Self-service LMS to Give Employees the Freedom to Learn at Their Own Pace

Northern (Arriva Rail North), the primary train operator in Northern England and part of Arriva UK Trains, needed a single learning management system to replace disparate, manual and spreadsheet-based training records. The aim was to standardize training processes, provide auditable records and give managers clear visibility of skills, training needs and compliance across sites and departments.

Working with Synergy Learning, Northern implemented Totara Learn — a web-based, self-service LMS for course administration, skills-gap analysis, tracking and reporting. The platform unified training delivery, empowered staff to book and complete learning at their own pace, strengthened safety-critical and audit reporting, and in a soft launch already engaged over 400 users with strong early feedback.
