Amazon needed a way to train and influence retail staff across a global network of resellers so they could confidently recommend Echo, Alexa, Fire and Kindle products on the shop floor. The existing platform was underused and light on product detail, and Amazon required a scalable, mobile-friendly solution that could deliver bite-sized, multi‑lingual content, track ROI back to stores and support up to 300,000 users.
Totara partner Synergy Learning (with Iris Worldwide) built the Alexa Academy on Totara Learn: a responsive, mobile-first LMS with a clear landing page and simple registration that ties accounts to retailers and stores, personalized dashboards, product-family course grouping, gamified badges and future rewards. Launched as a five-market pilot, the platform is manageable by Amazon’s team, designed to increase engagement and—through captured registration and progress data—measure how training translates into sales.
