A Totara Case Study
Alfred Health, a major public trauma centre in Melbourne with three hospital campuses and about 9,000 staff, faced a rapid enterprise-wide EMR rollout in 2018 that required training over 7,000 clinical staff on new software, complex biomedical devices and changed clinical workflows in just 10 weeks.
Leveraging an upgraded Totara Learn LMS integrated with IT and HR systems, the team used dynamic enrolments, cascade super‑user training, trainer/room asset management and custom reporting to coordinate blended learning. The program ran 30 face‑to‑face course types and 35 online courses in 794 sessions across three sites—training 5,823+ staff face‑to‑face—while establishing ongoing orientation, proficiency tracking and executive reporting to support continuous improvement and KPI compliance.
