PIC Group, a specialist provider of technical consulting, training and operations support for power generation facilities worldwide, needed to modernize a mostly in‑person, paper‑and‑spreadsheet training system. They required a single, highly customisable LMS that could host multiple sub‑organisations, deliver position‑specific annual/bi‑ or tri‑annual learning plans, manage expiring certifications, support blended (face‑to‑face plus online) delivery, and provide powerful, hierarchy‑aware reporting.

Working with Totara partner Tech Transfer, PIC moved to Totara Learn (launched 2013, rolled out 2014), using its certification workflows, automated resets/reminders, face‑to‑face booking and custom reporting to manage complex, position‑based programs. The intuitive, branded portal now serves about 400 users, delivers tailored certificates per sub‑organisation, archives records for reporting/printing, and has achieved a 90% year‑to‑year retention rate.
