Unum, a leading provider of financial protection benefits in the US and UK, needed a scalable manager development program that fit into busy schedules, enabled peer-to-peer learning, allowed real-time updates, and created a habit of ongoing learning. To meet that need, Unum partnered with Torch.io and used Torch.io’s Digital Learning software to design a Manager Academy that would equip every manager to lead the company through innovation and change.

Torch.io built and delivered a social, bite-sized learning experience (a 6-week pilot for 50 managers) combining expert facilitation, peer groups, curated content, and reporting dashboards to measure engagement and guide facilitators. The program is on track to scale 9x in year one, produced a 75% increase in participant confidence and usage of key concepts after the pilot, and is expanding into four courses for all managers—demonstrating clear, measurable impact from Torch.io’s solution.
