The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), a coalition of 15 UK aid charities, faced the challenge of producing vast amounts of accurate and sensitive appeal content within 24 hours during humanitarian crises. To help speed up their review workflows and maintain quality control, they partnered with vendor Torchbox to pilot an AI-assisted proofreading tool.

Torchbox developed a responsible AI proofreader that checks content against brand guidelines and approved messaging, flagging errors and inconsistencies. The solution kept human judgment central to the process. In a pilot test, 100% of participants found the tool valuable, 73% said they would continue using it, and 64% reported it helped them work more quickly, demonstrating Torchbox's tool successfully improved efficiency without compromising on essential oversight.
