Case Study: Naval Group improves machining productivity with TopSolid and NCSIMUL

Naval Group opts for a digital chain for its production workshop

The customer, Naval Group, a major French submarine manufacturer, was faced with the challenge of improving the machining of highly complex, high-value components for its new Barracuda-class submarines. Their priority was to get production right the first time, which required eliminating the need for test parts, improving post-processor tuning, and controlling program modifications. To meet these industrial challenges, they sought an integrated digital CAD/CAM solution.

The vendor, TopSolid, provided its CAD/CAM solution integrated with NCSIMUL from SPRING Technologies for machining simulation. This created a complete digital chain. The implementation, supported by a reorganization of the programming team and an external partner, resulted in 100% of programs being simulated and verified. TopSolid's solution drastically shortened program finalization time, improved documentation and team communication, and led to a massive increase in productivity, reducing a backlog of 250 work orders by a factor of 25.
