The customer, Legrand GmbH, the German subsidiary of the global electrical manufacturer Legrand, faced the challenge of reducing turnaround times and costs in its tool and production resource manufacturing. To compete in a difficult market, the company needed to move from a 2.5D CAM system to a more efficient 3D CAD/CAM solution for designing and producing complex tools and molds.

The vendor TopSolid implemented its end-to-end CAD/CAM solution, including TopSolid’Design, TopSolid’Mold, and TopSolid’Cam. This provided an unbroken process chain from tool design to the finished part. The results were significant, with tool turnaround time reduced from 20 weeks to 12 weeks. TopSolid also enabled programming time for milling to be up to 80% faster and halved the time for creating drilling programs, leading to major efficiency gains.
