Case Study: Garnimetal improves sheet metal design and production efficiency with TopSolid

Garnimetal, a Belgian sheet metal manufacturer, faced the challenge of staying competitive in a market where mass production was being outsourced to lower-wage countries. To maintain its edge with custom, small-batch production, the company needed to modernize its design and manufacturing process, specifically seeking to eliminate inefficiencies in updating 3D models and generating 2D production drawings and CAM programs. They invested in solutions from the vendor TopSolid, including TopSolid’PunchCut for CAM and TopSolid’PDM for data management.

The implemented TopSolid solution provided a fully integrated and interdependent architecture. This allowed any design change made in the 3D model, 2D drawing, or CAM phase to automatically update the others, eliminating the need to restart tasks from scratch. While specific quantitative results were not yet available after three months of use, the vendor TopSolid provided exceptional support, including training and assisting with machine benchmarking by quickly supplying necessary ISO codes. This investment was a key part of Garnimetal's strategy to optimize its workflow and maintain its competitive advantage.
