Summit Management Services, a mid-sized community management firm based in Silver Spring, MD (with an office in Alexandria, VA), grew to 54 communities and 11,000 units after merging with a consulting practice in 2007. The company needed to combine client databases into a cohesive accounting system and satisfy diverse board reporting requests that their previous software couldn’t handle.

Summit implemented TOPS, using its flexible General Ledger, customizable Owners Database and Flex Data fields, plus Work Order and CC&R modules, and relied on TOPS’ transition assistance to import legacy Excel files. The result was streamlined recordkeeping, easy manager access to financials and owner information, tailored board reports that reduced follow-up questions, and an overall more efficient operation that Summit’s leadership recommends.
