Americaneagle.com, a fast-growing digital marketing company with 500+ employees, needed a better way to hire people who would fit its strong culture and perform at a high level. As the company scaled, leaders were dealing with mistakes, low productivity, and constant fires caused by non-A Players, making sustainable growth a challenge. Topgrading was brought in to help improve hiring quality using its Topgrading methodology and Online Solutions software.
Topgrading trained all managers in a 2-day workshop and helped Americaneagle.com roll out its interview process, with internal experts leading tandem interviews for finalist candidates. The results were strong: in 2019, Americaneagle.com hired 105 people and said only four would not be enthusiastically rehired, a 96% hiring success rate. The company also avoided 14 serious mis-hires in its first six months, which it estimated would have cost millions of dollars, and expects to move from 80% A Players to more than 90% over time.
