Labsphere, an internationally recognized manufacturer of light measurement products and one of 42 Halma companies, wanted to improve hiring and promotion quality across the organization. After President Kevin Chittim and another manager attended a Topgrading Workshop, the company turned to Topgrading to help rethink how it hired, evaluated, and developed people.

Topgrading was implemented across Labsphere using standard Topgrading methods, including Tandem Topgrading Interviews and Job Scorecards, with the president even posting his scorecard outside his office to reinforce accountability. With Topgrading, Labsphere increased A Players hired and promoted from 30% to 70%, and over three years delivered record results: sales rose 19%, 47%, and 23% year over year, while profits increased 73%, 91%, and 36%, more than doubling sales and quadrupling profits in under three years.
