Home Instead’s Wichita franchise, part of a caregiving company serving seniors through 900 franchises worldwide, needed a better way to recruit, select, and retain high-performing entry-level caregivers. Topgrading worked with the franchise to adapt its hiring approach for hourly caregiving roles using tools like a Job Scorecard, an abbreviated Career History Form, and a shortened Topgrading Interview process.

With Topgrading, the Steinbergs implemented simplified hiring methods, reference checks, and measured hiring quality and turnover more closely. The results were strong: the share of A Player caregivers hired improved from an estimated 25% to 88%, with 44 of 50 hires becoming A Players, and annual turnover fell from 100% to 44%.
