DPT, a pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization with about 1,000 employees, was pursuing aggressive growth but its leadership realized the company needed stronger talent to support those plans. Topgrading helped DPT address this challenge with its hiring and promotion methodology, starting with an internal workshop for executives and a companywide rollout.

Topgrading was used for hiring and promoting all roles, from entry-level scientists to senior leaders, along with internal certification for managers and ongoing assessment of hires and promotions. The results were significant: the share of A Players and A Potentials hired increased from 17% to 80%, and the share of strong promotions rose from about 20% to 80%, supporting double-digit year-over-year growth and a stronger talent advantage for DPT.
