Case Study: FEBRABAN achieves fast, accurate pension form processing with Top Image Systems eFLOW

The Confederation of Brazilian Banks Processes Pension Forms

FEBRABAN, the Brazilian Federation of Banks, needed to convert an enormous archive of pension contribution records from microfiche into digital form for the Brazilian government. The project involved more than 150 million microfiche images, poor-quality scans, multiple bank-specific record formats, and a short implementation timeframe. Top Image Systems’ eFLOW Unified Content Platform was chosen to help tackle the challenge.

Top Image Systems’ eFLOW solution converted microfiche to TIF, extracted individual estratos, and then captured and validated the data using OCR/recognition tools, including the JustICR engine and a voting algorithm to improve accuracy. The system handled both structured and semi-structured formats, went into production quickly, and processed up to 200,000 estratos per day. Top Image Systems helped FEBRABAN meet the government’s accuracy requirements and reportedly saved one year of processing time.
