University of Texas at Austin improves engagement for 900 students with Top Hat

The University of Texas at Austin, a large public research institution, faced a challenge in engaging students and teaching complex terminology in massive classes of up to 900 students. Top Hat's solution provided interactive classroom response features, polling, and pop quizzes to break up lectures and assess comprehension. The professor also authored two interactive textbooks on the Top Hat platform, embedding over 1,200 assessment questions. This use of Top Hat led to a marked improvement in student engagement and keeping up with materials, creating a more personal connection in the large class and ensuring students did the graded readings.
