St. Cloud Technical & Community College boosts final grades 4% with Top Hat

St. Cloud Technical & Community College instructor Luke Green was frustrated by the high cost and poor fit of traditional textbooks for his public speaking course. He also struggled to facilitate effective peer feedback among students in a way that reduced their anxiety. Green implemented Top Hat's Classroom app to allow for anonymous peer feedback, creating a safer environment for students. He also co-wrote and adopted an affordable, interactive Top Hat Textbook customized for his course. The results were significant: a 4% increase in average final grades, an 8% boost on his instructor evaluation score, and a 12% drop in DFW rates, demonstrating Top Hat's measurable positive impact on student outcomes and retention.
