Sports Car Company, a renowned maker of high-end sports and GT cars, needed to boost spare-parts service levels from 70% to 90% within two years without increasing inventory. To address this, they selected ToolsGroup’s SO99+ for demand forecasting, inventory optimization and replenishment across their global Spare Parts Division.
ToolsGroup implemented SO99+, interfacing it with the customer’s AS400 legacy system (later ported to a new ERP), and supported a small team (one planner from the customer and two ToolsGroup consultants). The tuned system generated monthly replenishment plans for more than 20,000 mostly slow-moving items; as a result, ToolsGroup helped Sports Car Company improve service levels by 32%, reduce inventory, and accommodate a 20% increase in product range within two years.
