Case Study: O2 achieves 96–97% handset availability and nearly 30% fewer days of stock with ToolsGroup SO99+

A ToolsGroup Case Study

Preview of the O2 Case Study

SO99+ helps to maximize customer experience

O2, the UK mobile brand of Telefónica with over 25 million customers and 450+ stores, faced rapidly growing and increasingly complex handset inventory (about 60% annual growth since 2013) and rising customer expectations for product availability. To modernize planning and support a demand-driven process, O2 selected ToolsGroup and its SO99+ cloud platform to replace multiple manual systems and better align supply with retail and online demand.

ToolsGroup implemented SO99+ capabilities—including demand sensing, inventory optimization, replenishment, a Demand Collaboration Hub and Supply Collaboration Hub, plus a bespoke Constrained Supply Algorithm—to fine‑tune forecasts and prioritize stock allocation. The ToolsGroup solution boosted forecast accuracy by 10%, raised handset availability to 97% in the warehouse and 96% in stores, and cut days of stock by nearly 30%, even as O2’s product range and unit costs expanded.
