Mixes Up Inventory to Overcome Demand and Supply Variability

Alessi, a leader in designer household goods with more than 2,500 SKUs and ~200 new introductions a year, faced high demand variability (many low‑volume items) and long overseas lead times that made it hard to keep the right product mix on hand and consistently fill orders. To address this, Alessi partnered with ToolsGroup and deployed its SO99+ planning solution as part of a new SIOP process to improve forecasting, inventory mix and replenishment.

ToolsGroup’s SO99+ was integrated with Alessi’s SAP R/3 and used for demand planning, inventory optimization and replenishment, giving the company a standardized monthly forecast and inventory targets. The result: sales forecast accuracy rose to nearly 90%, overall customer service level improved from 88% to 95% without increasing inventory, working capital costs fell, and production planning and factory efficiency improved with reduced overtime and idle time — all delivered by ToolsGroup’s solution.
