Leading Electronics Distributor, a global leader in electronic components distribution with a portfolio of roughly 15 million parts and over one million active SKUs to plan, faced pandemic-era disruptions: extended lead times, sporadic demand across a long tail of SKUs, and the need for better forecasting, reporting and exception-based planning. The company turned to ToolsGroup and implemented ToolsGroup Service Optimizer 99+ (SO99+) to introduce greater automation and accuracy across demand planning, inventory optimization and replenishment.
ToolsGroup deployed SO99+ enterprise-wide (live Feb 2021, full rollout by April) to cluster SKUs, set differentiated service goals, and automate replenishment and exception management. The result: service levels improved by 2+%, safety stock stabilized to 30–90 days, proposals were reduced by $20M, $343M in inventory orders were canceled and another $300M pushed out, over $100M of A/B inventory was reduced, and $10M was saved using SO99+ Price Break functionality—while increasing planner productivity and moving toward ~80% automation.
