Improved forecasting strengthens sales

Höganäs, the world’s leading producer of iron and metal powders, faced highly variable demand across countries and relied on a fragmented, manual forecasting system (Excel, Cognos, QlikView) plus 50 local salespeople. This resulted in excess global inventory and high forecast errors; after evaluating options and partnering with Optilon, Höganäs chose ToolsGroup’s SO99+ demand forecasting software complemented by the ToolsGroup Demand Collaboration Hub to centralize and simplify forecasting.

ToolsGroup’s solution was piloted in China and then rolled out across 85 countries, making it easy for sales teams to contribute to forecasts and enabling monthly S&OP reporting. The ToolsGroup implementation halved forecast errors, sped reporting by 50%, freed up sales capacity and created a stronger foundation for decision making; Höganäs and ToolsGroup (with Optilon) are now rolling out a second phase for inventory and warehouse optimization.
