Hertz Equipment Rentals, one of Canada’s largest rental equipment providers, needed a better way to control and report on the tools and assets shipped in its mobile tool trailers for shutdown jobs at industrial sites. Using TOOLHOUND 5, Hertz sought to improve inventory control, reduce paperwork, and keep accurate records of tool usage and employee access in the field.

ToolHound implemented a bar code and wireless scanner solution that let Hertz staff scan tools and employees in real time from anywhere in the crib, with data instantly updating the central database. The result was stronger accountability, faster reporting, and up-to-the-minute visibility into inventory, certifications, maintenance, and billing. Hertz has used ToolHound since 1992 to maintain efficiency and control without needing to rely on a keyboard.
