Case Study: Dominion improves tool tracking and saves time with ToolHound

A ToolHound Case Study

Preview of the Dominion Case Study

Dominion - Customer Case Study

Dominion, operating the Clover Bar Station in Virginia, needed a faster, more accurate way to manage tools and maintenance across its facilities. Its old in-house tracking system was time-consuming and limited, making it harder to track individual tools, generate useful reports, and avoid unscheduled breakdowns. Dominion turned to ToolHound, a bar code-driven tool control system, to improve accountability and simplify tool crib operations.

ToolHound implemented an RF-based scanning system that labels tools with bar codes and tracks employee checkouts, tool locations, repair schedules, and inventory value in real time. The solution also alerts operators to certification issues and maintenance needs before tools are issued. Dominion reported better visibility into tool usage, improved reporting, and more informed inventory decisions, with the biggest impact being saved time and money.
